You all are familiar with the word SEO (search engine optimization). Without SEO your work can be underrated. SEO is a pivotal thing to rank your article in Google Search Engine. It might seem difficult for the new writer or beginners to do SEO of their articles, but believe me, it’s not that difficult. I’ll share simple points and easy-to-understand information in this article, that will teach you to do SEO of your articles by yourself.
#1. Choose keyword for SEO
The keyword is the major and very important part of Search Engine Optimization. Keywords are actually those words that are searched on Google by people. Keywords reflect the topic and the whole article. Such as my keyword for this article is “SEO.” When people will search for an SEO guide they might get my article on the first page if its SEO is done properly.

#2. Use of keywords for SEO
Now the second very important part of SEO is to know where and how to use the selected keywords throughout the articles. The keywords should be used in the following manners in the article:
- Use in the main title most importantly (your main title is your heading or topic). Such as my title for this article is ‘‘SEO: Rank Your Article in Google Search Engine.’’
- It should be used in the subtitle or meta description as well. A meta description is a paragraph that is most relevant to your title and it is shown under the main title when your article pops up on the Google page. It provides the reader with clarity about the article. For example, it provides the reader with some extra information about what’s points you’ll cover inside the article. In the WordPress blog, it might not be an option to write a meta description, thus, in such a situation, Google itself selects the paragraph from your article that is most relevant. However, for the better understanding, you can take the example of the ‘‘subtitle’’ option on Medium.

- Use the keyword in the first sentence/line of the article. Keywords should be used in the first paragraph thoroughly. Then, use the keywords throughout the article.
- Using keywords in subheadings will also be good, but not necessarily.
Along with using the keywords for the SEO, it is also important to formate your article properly. Use H1 size for the title, H2 size for the subtitle, and so on based on your content. H1 and H2 are sizes of text that are chosen accordingly. H1 is recommended for the title and H2 for the subtitle. On Medium, you have H1 and H2 sizes by default, and the article body is turned into H6 size automatically. However, the sizes are available from H1 to H6. Size decreased as the number increased. Other sizes are used based on content parts, type, and requirement. While H1 is must be recommended for the main title and H2 for the subtitle.
Note: Subtitle means the second heading after the main heading. For example, my main heading is ‘‘SEO: Rank Your Article in Google Search Engine’’ and subtitle started from ‘‘Simple SEO steps’’ and so on. It might confuse in regard to Medium formate or Worpress formate. So let me clear it. The SEO for both will be done in the same manner, while on Medium subtitle is equivalent to the Meta description on Google. So consider the subtitle option on Medium as a Meta description on Google, and the second heading as the subtitle because here we are learning to rank your article on Google.
